Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are special medical grade threads that are thinner than hair and made of protein. PDO threads are biodegradable and dissolve after 6-9 months, but their effects can last up to 2 years thanks to the stimulation of new collagen. Threads stimulate collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid formation that remains long after they have dissolved, helping to maintain smooth, firm, supple skin texture.

A PDO Thread Lift is a minimally invasive procedure that tightens the skin. Unlike most facelift procedures, there are no big incisions required. Instead, PDO thread lifting uses small needles to insert fine threads under the skin. These threads are especially designed to anchor sagging skin and lift it upwards. The threads also stimulate collagen production, helping to further diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

PRE TREATMENT CARE:

  • Take oral arnica to help minimize bruising and swelling, start at least 2 days prior.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for 1 week before treatment.
  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to special events such as a wedding or a vacation.
  • If you have a history of cold sores take anti-viral medication prior to treatment.
  • Make sure you’re well hydrated and have eaten the day of your appointment, this will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.

POST TREATMENT CARE:

  • Avoid picking and manipulating the suture at the procedure site. This can cause more bruising, infection, the perforation of the suture through the surface of the skin or the disjunction of the suture to the skin and muscle.
  • Avoid direct heat such as laser treatment such as IPL or laser hair removal for at least a month.
  • Avoid bathing, shower instead for one week following your procedure.
  • Avoid excessive exercise/sport for one week following your procedure.
  • For bruises apply cold compresses gently to the area.
  • Oral arnica or vitamin K may be applied after procedure for 5-7 days for bruising and swelling as needed.
  • Take Tylenol for pain, especially at bed, during the first few days.
