WHAT IS A GLP-1?

GLP-1’s are powerful, naturally occurring hormones in your body that send signals to your brain to improve your metabolic function and regulate your digestion so that you feel full longer. GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tizepatide work on the same receptors as your body’s natural GLP-1 hormones.

IS IT SAFE?

Research shows that, in combination with coaching and lifestyle change, GLP-1 medications are the most effective and safe long term option for weight loss.

Semaglutide (oral & injectable) medications have been safely used for weight loss under the brand names Ozempic, Rybelsus and Wegovy. Tizepatide is a newer GLP-1 medication sold under the brand name Mounjaro.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?

Semaglutide and tizepatide slow down your digestion, so you feel full longer. Nausea and constipation are the two most common reported side effects. Most patients describe them as transient and mild to moderate. For our patients sensitive to nausea we can prescribe Zofran to reduce nausea. Patients can take over the counter fiber or laxatives or increase their diet of vegetables to relieve constipation.

HOW IS THIS ADMINISTERED?

Semaglutide and tizepatide are injected once per week in the abdomen using tiny insulin syringes. Our monthly Medical Weightloss Membership includes our Club membership and discounts on our weight loss injectables, a monthly visit with our health care professionals, and a Lipotropic B12 or MICC shot at each visit.

WHO CANNOT USE SEMAGLUTIDE OR TIZEPATIDE?

Patients with a history of pancreatitis, thyroid tumors, thyroid cancer or family history of thyroid cancers/tumors should not take semaglutide. Patients with uncontrolled diabetes should consult with their doctor before taking semaglutide or tizepatide.

HOW CAN I GET STARTED?
